RemoteApp Information

Hi All,
I want to know about RemoteApp connection with Segura PAM. I have the following Questions.

  1. I have used the Segura PAM, without RemoteApp and found it working by using Segura internal Proxy applications for SSH, web, database etc. Can Segura PAM work without using the RemoteApp option? or is there a certain limit on number of users or sessions that can use the internal proxy applications, beyond which we require the RemoteApp ?

  2. If I want to add a server and use the remoteapp option, how can i do that ? any steps or guide ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Zarrar Khan,

Thank you for reaching out!

Regarding your first question, could you please clarify in a bit more detail what you meant? We’d like to better understand your use case to provide the most accurate guidance.

As for your second question, if you want to configure a RemoteApp-connected server, while we don’t have official documentation for the RemoteApp setup on the target device (as it’s part of Microsoft infrastructure), we do recommend checking these community articles that may help you get started from the Segura side:

Although we don’t provide step-by-step instructions for configuring the RemoteApp role in Windows Server, these resources should help give you a better starting point in terms of PAM integration.

Let us know if you need any further guidance!

Hi Jade,

Regarding the Question 1,
I want to know if I use Segura PAM without RemoteApp Server, meaning there is NO Microsoft RDS/RemoteApp. Will Segura PAM support all Users and their sessions ? Or is there a certain limit of sessions/users that can be connected to the PAM, example after 10-20 simultaneous session, I need a Microsoft RDS/RemoteApp integrated with Segura PAM to support further sessions/users.

Regarding Question 2
How can I link the Microsoft RDS/RemoteApp Server with the Segura PAM ? How will the Segura PAM know that for the specific RemoteApps which Microsoft Server needs to be contacted/connected ?
I am interested in the configurations on the Segura PAM.

Hello Zarrar,

For your second question, if I understood correctly, you’re asking how Segura knows which application should run on which server. If that’s the case, the answer is that Segura maps them using the product name. You can then configure the RemoteApp for the specified device through the Session Settings tab in the credential.

Hi hkatbay,
Thank you for the answer.

What I understood from your answer is that a credential settings will have the RemoteApp linked to it using Session settings tab.

My next question is as follow. Suppose I have 3 x Microsoft Windows Servers working as RemoteApp Servers, having different applications installed on them. Application X is running on Windows Server A, and Application Y on Windows Server B. How will I make this connection in Segura PAM?

Question 1: How will I integrate these 3 Windows servers with Segura PAM ? Is it similar to how a normal Windows Machine is added as a device to the Segura PAM ?

Do you have any document or tutorial where I can see how the remoteapp functionality works ? and how to configure it ?

Thank You

Hi Zarrar,

Yes, you should add the Windows Server itself (as device with credential), then configure the RemoteApp and assign it to the device. If the application paths differ on each server, I believe you’ll need to create separate RemoteApps.
